Christmas 2011

Christmas came and went without me blogging for such a long time. So....I am going back in time to Christmas 2011. The colour scheme I chose was blue and white, inspired by some digital paper. The images used were shaded predominantly in blues with a few other colours incorporated. Below are a few of the cards I made. I used several Lili of the Valley stamps and a Wee digital stamp. I used the Wee digital stamp in the last photo for a Pink Christmas card swap I joined on RSA. I dare say I was more into pastel colours than the traditional colours this year. I will post some of the cards from the pink swap next time.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend. The weather in Cape Town is 30 degrees with no wind today - absolutely stunning day. I am off to prepare salads to go with the fish braai we will be having a little later. We have invited my mom and David's parents. Birthday card with Lili of the Valley images

What makes you think that my favourite cards to make are easel cards at the moment? Just see the cards I am posting!
Here is another birthday card made for a special friend on the RSA Group.The stamped image is a Lili of the Valley stamp and the wording is a digital stamp. 

Above is the full card. I have used the Cheery Lynn DL101 doilie cut in cream cardstock and added pale pink pearls. The image has been shaded with promarkers.

Birthday card for Ria du Toit

Hi all, after a very long break from blogging. Time is so precious and we often don't have enough of it to do the things we love. However, I am so grateful for the time I do get to spend on my special hobby.

Below is a tent card I made for Ria, one of my RSA Group friends. It is an idea I got from Sandra Fullerton, who made a card like it for our Stamping Group. I loved her card so much so I copied it using different lace etc. The most difficult part of making this card for me was to get the little piece of chain attached to make the image dangle! The image is a LOTV stamp which I stamped at Amanda Harrod's house on one of our fabulous Saturday morning get togethers. She just fitted the card so well.

I hope I will be back with some more cards soon.

WORLD CARD MAKING DAY 1 OCTOBER 2011

11 Ladies from Cape Town celebrated WCMD at Debbie Harris' house on 1 October 2011. We enjoyed a most awesome day together. Each person prepared a demonstration and brought pre-cut packs for all the ladies to make on the day. On arrival we enjoyed champagne and orange juice and had a short time to purchase goods displayed by some vendors. We then took our seats where a pile of gifts donated by vendors, shops and friends awaited us. The day was action packed with a delicious lunch, afternoon tea, lucky draws and wonderful dems.

Birthday card

Well, once again I have had a long absence from blogging. I wish knew where the days went. It's hard to believe we are already in October. September seemed to fly by so fast - quite frightening! It was a very busy month, workwise, my mother's 90th birthday and preparation for World Card Making day on 1st October.
After my last post I made several different cards with a similar design. Here is another one which I made for a male.

Wee Stamps

It is a stunning winters day in Cape Town today and I could think of so many nice things to be doing rather than working.

The Wee stamps are just sooooooo gorgeous. I could sit and shade images with my ProMarkers, which give such a smoothe finnish, all day long! If only I had the time.

I have been making several cards similar to this one so will post some more soon. Watch this space and enjoy your day.

Twisted Easel Birthday card

Below is a card I made for Lauren Moser for believe it or not, yes, her 50th birthday! I have used my favourite colours and a gorgeous WEE DIGI STAMP. Lots of embelishments and die cuts to complete my card.

Hermanus week end

Today started off on a very sad note. Our black and white cat, Sassi, who was well over 13 years of age,  passed away. I found her stretched out but looking very peaceful in the laundry when I went to put some washing in the machine. We have had a burial for her. Rest in peace, Sassi.

Well, on to happier news. I cannot begin to explain how wonderful this week end was. There are 4 of us that get together once a month. We have been meeting for about 13 years and have been going to Hermanus for about 12 years, the first 2 years happened annually but now we go bi-annually. Lauren Moser, Yvonne Ivey, Sue Jones and I leave all our woes from home behind us and set of on a Friday morning and we now return home on a Monday evening - shear bliss. We are very privileged to stay in Yvonne's parents flat. We all have the freedom to bring and doing whatever we feel like. I am terrible as I always take soooooo much stamping goods with, use very little of it but feel like I am in heaven!

We spend time eating at home and frequenting different eateries, talking and discussing all sorts of topics, paging through stamping magazines, shopping (there is a scrapbooking shop), occasional walks and searching for whales, laughing and managing to fit some stamping time in too.

  These week ends are memorable occasions, wonderful food for the soul and we come home refreshed and ready to resume our daily duties with the hope that in six months time we will be doing it again.

Friends Card

Why does time move so fast?

I have been swapping cards with a special lady, Sally Leech, from Pietermaritzburg for many years (about 14). This is the most recent card I have made for her which will go into the post tomorrow.

I have used a Lili of the Valley stamp which as been shaded with ProMarkers and cut with a Spellbinder circular die. I have then cut two Spellbinders lacey circles in matching colours and woven them together and added ticket sentiments from Cuddly Buddly. The yellow dotty background paper is one which I downloaded and printed. Pearls, flowers and ribbon have been used as embellishments.

I recently went on a Stamping weekend to Hermanus with 3 friends. We have a fabulous time but more about that in my next post.

Holiday photos

My postings are really very erratic.  Our schools have been on holiday for 3 weeks and we went away for a few days to Kimberley and Golden Gate. It was fabulous to take a few days off from work and escape from the household duties.

Below are a few photos - the first one is our bedroom at Welgewandel B&B in Kimberley and then an early morning shot of the big hole where I was hoping to spot some glistening diamonds - but no luck!!

Here are some of the shops which were re constructed to look like the village way back when with my daughter, Amy and another one below with both my special children, Gary and Amy with yours truly.

On the stamping front I have been doing very little - just snatching a little time now and then to shade images, so that when I get lots of time I will be able to make up cards.

Last of the Christmas cards for now

Lovely to see the sun out today. I am trying to catch up with washing before we leave for a short holiday to Golden Gate in the Free State later this week. Dare I say I can't wait!! Well these are the last of the Christmas cards I am posting for now - the subject may just become too boring.

This is my favourite one - I think the colouring which is more subdued really took my fancy.

I hope the cards will bring some sunshine to the recipients.

More Christmas cards

1st of July - gosh, the months seem to be flying by so fast.
Well, as promised, here are some more of the Christmas cards I made. Each card has a Christmas greeting printed inside.

Tomorrow I will post the last lot of Christmas cards until December when I will make cards for my friends. December seems so far off but will be here before we know it.

There is a big rugby game on tomorrow afternoon so I will be spending the afternoon in the kitchen preparing supper for the family and friends who will be coming here to watch - about 10 in total ..... oh, how I would much rather spend the time stamping!!!

Christmas cards

A member of the RSA Group, Joan Visser, has taken on a community project to make 500 Christmas cards for prisoners to send to their families at Christmas time. She sent out a request for anyone who would like to help make cards so over the next few days I will be showing you some of the cards I made for this cause.

I had shaded quite a few of the images soon after I stamped them and had a ball making these cards -  similar but different.

At the moment we are experiencing cold weather in Cape Town so I feel quite at home with the snowy scenes!!

Easel Birthday card

I just adore the Lili of the Valley stamps. I stamped the image at a stamping friend and am just loving shading with my ProMarkers as they give such a lovely smooth finnish. The senitment is also from Lili of the Valley which I was very fortunate to buy when they had them as digi stamps. The punch used is from Martha Stuart - one of the  punch around the page.

This card was given by my daughter to her boyfriends mother and I believe that she was absolutely thrilled with it.

Circular card - Digi stamps

Goodness, I just cannot believe it as been such a long time since I last posted on my blog. Life just seems to be constantly busy and not so much time is allocated to my wonderful hobby.

The card below is one I made for my Aunt who, as you can see, celebrated her 90th birthday. Elaine looks so good for her age and we were invited to Kelvin Grove for a delicious meal to celebrate her special day.

The watering can and 90th sentiment are both free digi stamps and I have used this beautiful circular die from Marianne Designs (LR0112) which I received as a gift from one of my good stamping friends - what a gift!!

Twisted Easel Mother's Day Card

Well, almost a week later and I am finally posting this twister easel card which was made for my special mom for 'Mother's Day'.

The flowers in the basket is a free Digi stamp which took my fancy. I punched out the butterfly in the same purple cardstock used on the card and also with lavender vellum, adhered them together and applied the pearls for the abdomen. I purcashed the pretty dotty ribbon recently and just had to use it! The fabulous 'Mother's Day' sentiment is a clear stamp from Studio G.

Rubber Stamped Easel card

This card was one of the first easel cards I made using my favourite colours. The cute litte girl image was given to me my a frienand the sentiment is a Just Rite stamp. The background papers are from Wilson & Maclagan. Flowers and pearls are my favourite embelishments.

Thank you cards

 We are celebrating Human Rights day in South Africa today so have another public holiday. 

I was very fortunate to receive several Nellie Snellen Dies, which were purchased from Country Crafts, as birthday gifts from my very generous stamping friends.

I have had such fun making 'Thank You' cards for them using the dies and combining them with the circular Nestabilities. As you can see I have used lots of flowers and pearls as embellishments. I also used glitter, Dimensional Magic and Flowersoft but these do not show up too well on the photo's. Hope you enjoy viewing them!
